Report
on Activities of Lodges - June 2004
1. Lodge Southern Cross No. 46 Palayamkottai
Ritual Working Competition. Passing ceremony of Bro.
Ganapathy Sargunan. On Universal Brotherhood day, the Lodge along
with Lodge Tamiravarni donated 100kgs of rice to Vivekananda Medical
Mission and 5 sets of school uniforms to Hindu Middle School.
They had given a press release in the local tamil daily 'Dinamalar".
2. Lodge Trivandrum No. 168 Thiruvananthapuram
Bro.Brig. G.Mohan was raised to the degree of a MM.10
kgs of rice and Rs.500/- were given to Master Ramesh Kumar a widow's
son studying in Standard Eight as part of the regular charity
programme. Celebrated Universal Brotherhood day jointly with the
other two Lodges, having an informal meeting at Hotel Horizon
along with ladies and non-masons. WM, W.Bro.A.S.Ben Roy had appeared
on the break fast show of the Kairali TV Channel and enlightened
the audience about Freemasonry.
3. Lodge Kottayam No. 245 Kottayam
Dr.Suresh Ninan , Psychiatrist was initiated. As part
of Charity programme Rs.7500/- was given to St.Mary's School,
Kurichy. A nursing student was given a scholarship of Rs.7500/-
. A press release was done as part of Universal Brotherhood day.
4. Lodge Vivekananda No. 254 Kanyakumari
No ceremony was done. 18 sets of School uniforms were
given to a village schoolas part of charity on Universal Brotherhood
day. The brethren had an informal get together at the Lodge premises.
5. Lodge Vanchinad No. 273 Kollam
Initiation ceremony of K.Harshakumar.
6. Lodge Alleppey No. 275 Alleppey
No Ceremony conducted. 100 note books were given to
school children and 150 kgs. of rice was distributed to the needy
as part of Universal Brotherhood day celebrations.
7. Lodge Ananthapadmanabha No. 280 Trivandrum
Dr.Perumal Gie Mathew was passed to the degree of FC.
A sum of Rs.2000/- was given to M.S. Ajumon, son of a poor widow
for pursuing his studies in Engineering.Rs.1000/- each for medical
expenses to a cancer patient and a poor woman. Celebrated Universal
Brotherhood day jointly with the other two Lodges, having an informal
meeting at Hotel Horizon along with ladies and non-masons.
8. Lodge Tamiravarni No. 289 Tirunelveli
Regular meeting was conducted on the 15th of June and
on the 20th of June Ritual Working Competition. Passing ceremony
was done with a dummy candidate. On Universal Brotherhood day
along with Lodge Southern Cross donated 100gs of rice to Vivekananda
Medical Mission and 5 sets of school uniforms to Hindu Middle
School. They had given a press release in the local tamil daily
'Dinamalar"
9. Lodge Pearl City No. 290 Thoothukudi
Iniatiation ceremony of A.G.Balaajee was conducted. On
Universal Brotherhood day the Lodge provided lunch to 105 inmates
and donated 25 kgs of rice of Arumugasamy Anbu Ashram, Tuticorin,
a Destitute home. Rs.2000/- worth of medicines was given to an
Old age home. The brethren had an informal meeting that evening.
10. Lodge Aruvi No. 293 Courtallam
Ritual Working Competition. Passing ceremony of Bro.
Philip Abraham. The lodge had given a press release on Universal
Brotherhood day which appeared on the 30th of June in the local
tamil daily 'Dinamalar"
11. Lodge Palai No. 318 Palai
No regular meeting in June.
12. Lodge Travancore No. 329 Thiruvananthapuram.
A memorable meeting where W.Bro.Dr.P.Balachandran RGIG
the IPM of the Lodge, initiated his son Harikrishnan. The Charge
after initiation was given by WM, the TB was explained by W.Bro.R.Sushil
Raj ARGM and the wkg. tls. were explainedby Bro.Dr.Anand Deva
Prasath . The lodge was done proud by one of its members in Bro.Dr.Anand
Deva Prasath getting Bill Gates Scholarship of 80,000 pounds towards
a Phd. in Molecular Biology of Neoplastic Cells, in the University
of Cambridge in London.

Report
on Universal Brotherhood day celebrated by Lodges in the Area
Most of the Lodges of the area celebrated June 24th 2004 as
Universal Brotherhood day to commemorate the spirit of Masonic
Brotherhood. Press releases were done in all major cities and
towns to create an awareness among the general public about the
organization. Many charity projects were carried out that day.
TRIVANDRUM
The three Lodges Lodge Trivandrum No.168, Lodge Ananthapamanbha
No.280 and Lodge Travancore No.329 jointly celebrated the day
by having an informal meeting of Ladies, non-masons and brethren
at Hotel Horizon at 7.30 p.m. R.W.Bro.K.R.Rajasekharan Nayar PRGM
presided over the function and welcomed the gathering. The ARGM
W.Bro.R.Sushil Raj addressed the gathering about freemasonry and
brotherhood. This was followed by an interactive session where
many doubts and queries of the audience were clearly explained
by the ARGM W.Bro.R.Sushil Raj and R.W.Bro.K.R.Rajasekharan Nayar.
About 80 people were present for the meeting and the dinner which
followed. W.Bro.S.M.Ashraf WM of Lodge Travancore, Bro SreeKumar
the secretary and W.Bro.K.G.Rajasekharan Nair, secretary of Lodge
Ananthapamanabha deserve all credit for organising the excellent
evening.
The same day morning the WM of Lodge Trivandrum W.Bro.A.S.Ben
Roy came on the breakfast show of the Kairali TV Channel. His
interview, which was for about 30 minutes was a very informative
one for the viewers who had little or no knowledge about Freemasonry.
The National Daily "The Hindu" in their Friday magazine
section covering the whole state of Kerala brought out an exclusive
interview along with photographs, its senior reporter Mr. N.J.Nair
had with the ARGM W.Bro.R.Sushil Raj. (Click here

TIRUNELVELI
Lodge Southern Cross No.46 and Lodge Tamiravarni No.289 celebrated
the day arranging charity programmes. They gave 100 kgs. rice
to Vivekananda Medical Mission Cherankulam and presented 5 sets
of school uniform to the needy children of Hindu Middle School
in Tirunelveli town. The photograph and news had appeared in the
columns of the Tamil daily "Dinamalar'
TUTICORIN
Lodge Pearl City No.290 had organized several charity programmes
to commemorate this day. They had provided lunch to 104 inmates
of Armugasamy Anbu Ashramam, a destitute home. They gave 25kgs
of rice to the Home as part of Dhanya Dhan. Medicines worth Rs.2000/-
were given to the destitute home, Little Sisters' of the Poor.
The masons had a meeting in the evening where they had an interactive
session on Freemasonry. Their press release appeared in the Tamil
Daily "Dinamalar" on the 26th June 2004.
COURTALLAM
Lodge Aruvi No. had given a press release which appeared on
the 30th of June Dinamalar Daily.
KANYAKUMARI
The brethren of Lodge Vivekananda No.254 assembled at the Lodge
premises to celebrate the day that evening. They donated 18 sets
of school uniforms to the needy children of LMS Higher Sec. School
Mathicode. The Dinamalar Daily had the news item and photograph
on the 3rd of July issue.
ALLEPPEY
Lodge Alleppey No.275 donated 100 note books to school children
and gave 100 kgs. of rice to the needy to commemorate the day.
KOTTAYAM
Lodge Kottayam No.245 gave a press release in the Malayalam
Daily " Malayala Manorama" about Freemasonry and Universal
Brotherhood Day.
