Report
on Activities of Lodges - May 2004
1. Lodge Southern Cross No. 46 Palayamkottai
Initiation ceremony of Bro.Ganapathy Sargunan
2. Lodge Trivandrum No. 168 Thiruvananthapuram
At the regular meeting held on the 15th May, Bro.Brig.
G.Mohan was passed to the degree of FC. 5 kgs of rice and Rs.250/-
each were given to 4 needy women as part of the Dhanya Dhan programme.
On the 29th May, RW the RGM visited the Lodge. A ceremony of initiation
was conducted by RGL officers with RGM in the eastern chair and
initiating Bro. Chacko Varghese. W.Bro.R.Sushil Raj ARGM gave
the charge after initiation.
25 year LTS Jewels were presented that evening, to Bro.Dr.V.Krishnan
Nair and Bro.Capt.T.K.R.Nair by RW the RGM. ARGM W.Bro.R.Sushil
Raj offered felicitations. Earlier that evening a sum of Rs.10,000/-
was donated to Navajeevan Mental Health & Rehabilitation Centre
as part of Charity.

As the candidate for passing was unavoidably absent the
ceremony was done with a ‘dummy’candidate.
4. Lodge Vivekananda No. 254 Kanyakumari
Initiation Ceremony of Bro.M.P.Clement. Charge in the
NE was given by W.Bro.P.S.Pandian ARGM (Chennai area) and Charge
after Initiation was given by ARGM W.Bro.R.Sushil Raj. W.Bro.R.Sushil
Raj & W.Bro.P.S.Pandian, both initiates of the Lodge were
felicitated on being appointed ARGMs’.

Raj ARGM was present and did portions of the ceremony. A sum of
Rs.1000/- was given to a three-year-old child suffering from cancer
for her medical expenses.

May. W.Bro.C.S.Madhavan, Lodge Jyothi No.253, Salem presented

REPORT
ON THE VISIT OF R.W. The RGM TO THE AREA
ON 29TH AND 30TH OF MAY 2004
RW The RGM R.W.Bro.Dr.B.Biswakumar arrived on
the morning of Saturday, 29th May, 2004 on his first official
visit after the RGL meet in February.
MEETING OF CHAPTER THIRUVANANTHAPURAM
The RG Supdt. attended the emergency meeting of Chapter Thiruvananthapuram
at
4.30 p.m and did the installation of the III Prin. E.Comp.Dr.P.Balachandran
Nair. He then formally addressed the Chapter before retiring.
The Chapter had, as part of Charity presented a food processor
costing Rs.2600/- to the Mahila Samajam, a womens’ welfare
organization.
MEETING OF LODGE TRIVANDRUM
Lodge Trivandrum No.168 before the emergency meeting that evening
at 6.30, presented a cheque for Rs.10000/- to Navajeevan Mental
Health and Rehabilitation centre, which RW The RGM presented to
the centre’s Director Mr.Roy. During the meeting RW the RGM
occupied the eastern chair and assisted by a team of RGL officers
initiated Bro.Chacko Verghese into Freemasonry. The ARGM W.Bro.R.Sushil
Raj gave the charge after initiation, the working tools explained
by W.Bro.P.SreeKumar PARGSecy. and the TB was explained by W.Bro.G.Viswanathan
RGStwd. The other officers who took part are RW Bro.K.R.Rajasekharan
Nayar PRGM as IPM, RW Bro.M.Ramaswamy Iyer PDyRGM as SW, W.Bro.P.A.Thomas
PDyRGM as JW, W.Bro.A.Gopalan Nair PDyRGM as SD, W.Bro.G.R.Nandakumar
PSRGW as JD and W.Bro.P.Balachandran Nair RGIG as IG. It was a
very memorable and impressive ceremony. Bro.Dr.V.Krishnan Nair
and Bro.Capt T.K.R.Nair were presented with 25 years LTS Jewels
by RW the RGM. The ladies attended the banquet after the meeting.
MASONIC SEMINAR
On Sunday the 30th of May RW the RGM inaugurated the seminar
“An introduction to the Side Degrees”. About 70 brethren
attended. RW Bro.K.R.Rajasekharan Nayar PdyGM, PRGM presided.
ARGM W.Bro.R.Sushil Raj welcomed the gathering. E.Comp.D.Santhikumar
of Chapter Thiruvananthapuram presented a paper on the “Holy
Royal Arch Chapter” prepared by him along with E.Comp .A.Jayapalan
of Chapter Kanyakumari.. W.Bro.T.T.Kuruvilla ruling master of
Mark Lodge V O Abraham presented a paper on the Mark degree and
W.Bro.S.Krishnan, WM of Lodge Pearl City and member of RAM Lodge
Chera presented a paper on the RAM degree. All the papers were
well presented, and with W.Bro.T.T.Kuruvilla keeping the audience
spellbound with him as he traced the origin of Mark Lodge and
its connection with the Craft in a superb manner. Each paper was
discussed well by the audience and presenters and was assisted
by the RGM, who clarified the queries. After a summing up by RW
the RGM , mementos were presented to the three presenters. W.Bro.A.S.Ben
Roy WM of Lodge Trivandrum proposed the vote of thanks. There
was lunch after the seminar. The organizing secretary of the seminar
W.Bro.K.G.Rajasekharan Nair, had done his task well.
WMs’&SECYs’ MEET
Soon after the seminar RW the RGM met the WM and Secretaries
or their representatives of the 13 Lodges of the area and reviewed
their working. He congratulated the Lodges for the increase in
charity programmes carried out, and requested them to do more,
especially the Dhanya Dhan programme. He asked the Lodges to increase
their membership and at the same time he wanted them to take special
care to retain the membership. He also discussed about the problems
brought forward by each Lodge and wherever necessary promised
immediate action. It was a very useful meeting.
RAM LODGE THIRUVANTHAPURAM
The RGMM was received into the RAM Lodge Thiruvananthapuram at
5.30 pm on Sunday the 30th of May. He listened to a paper on the
degree prepared by W.Bro.A.Jayapalan , which was presented by
the WCN W.Bro.T.Ravindran.
MARK LODGE THIRUVANANTHAPURAM
All the brethren who attended the Mark Lodge Thiruvananthapuram
meeting stood up to give an acclamation to RW the RGMM after he
did the advancement ceremony of Bro.Santhosh Zachariah. Never
before had the temple witnessed such an impressive ceremony. The
super human performance of RW the RGMM RW Bro.B.Biswakumar was
unbelievable for the brethren of Trivandrum who saw the RGM do
three different ceremonies in three different degrees in a span
of 27 hours. The RGMM thanked the brethren of Trivandrum for the
excellent arrangements and hospitality.
A very memorable visit ever made by any Regional Grand Master
to this city.
